How the lottery works

• Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation section uses a lottery system for program registration to ensure everyone has equal access to register.
There are limited program slots available. Applying for the lottery does not guarantee a slot in the selected programs.
• The lottery will be open for participants/parents to apply online during the dates listed.
A computerized lottery spin will be conducted after the application period has closed.
Participants/parents will be notified by phone of lottery results and be given payment information.
If a participant is not selected in the lottery they will be entered onto the waitlist.

How to apply
• Under 'Online Services' tab, click on 'Register/Pay for a Program' in drop down menu.
 Login with your username and passwordIf you do not have a username, click on 'Create an Account' and follow prompts.
 For login assistance please call 561-966-7088.
 Click on the Therapeutic Recreation Link to find the upcoming programs.

Payment Information
NOTICE: Effective October 1, 2025, all payments made with a credit or debit card (online or in-person) will incur a 3.0% service fee. This fee is assessed and collected by the credit card processor, not by Palm Beach County. No service fee will be assessed on payments made by check or cash. Service fees are non-refundable.
 Program fees can be paid online or in person at the CMAA Therapeutic Recreation Complex.
• The Community Programs section is unable to accept payments over the phone.
• Any payment not received by the payment deadline, will result in forfeiture of unpaid program slots.
 Unpaid slots will become available for waitlisted participants.

Community Outings
Goal: To provide participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities an opportunity to spend time socializing and building relationships with peers at a theme park while learning how to safely navigate the park in a group setting. 
Benefits: Gain confidence in social settings, enhance independence in decision­making, improve self-awareness and a heightened sense of emotional well­being. 

​Lake Worth Dinner Party
Program Date: June 1, 2026
Day: Monday
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Fee: $10 plus money for meal/drink
Description: 
Join us for our fun and welcoming Dinner Party nights — a chance to connect, share a meal, and build meaningful friendships in a supportive community setting. Participants will enjoy great food, laughter, and engaging activities while practicing everyday skills like social communication, table manners, and teamwork. These events are designed to promote confidence, independence, and inclusion in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Come hungry, bring your smile, and get ready for a wonderful evening together!

Cinema Outing
Program Date: June 23, 2026
Day: Tuesday
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Location: Meet at CMAA T-Rec Complex
Optional: Bring money for snacks

Description: 
Lights, camera, fun! Join us for a special movie outing where participants can relax, enjoy time with friends, and experience the excitement of seeing Toy Story 5 on the big screen. This carefree outing is all about laughter, shared moments, and creating happy memories together in the community. Field trips like this give everyone something fun to look forward to while building social connections along the way. Grab your popcorn and get ready for a fantastic night at the movies!


Recreation Engagement
Goal: To provide adults age 18 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to participate in recreational activities that improve physical health, foster social interaction, and encourage active living. 
Benefits: Participants will enjoy improved physical wellness, enhanced social skills, and a greater sense of vitality and well-being through engaging in fun, active pursuits.

Wellness Retreat
Program Date: May 28, 2026

Description: Relax, recharge, and have fun at our TR Wellness Retreat designed just for adults 18 and over with IDD! This calming and enjoyable experience is all about helping you feel your best. You'll get to unwind with gentle activities like yoga and meditation, as well as creative outlets such as journaling, coloring, and painting — all in a friendly, supportive setting. It’s the perfect chance to take a break from your daily routine, learn simple ways to care for your mind and body, and connect with others. Come ready to relax, have fun, and leave feeling refreshed and renewed!

Science Night
Program Date: June 12, 2026

Description: Put on our lab coats — it's Science Night! Join us for a hands-on evening of cool experiments, big reactions, and plenty of wow moments! Whether you're a curious beginner or a self-proclaimed science geek, this is a night where everyone gets to roll up their sleeves and see science come to life right before their eyes. It's a laid-back, laughter-filled evening all about exploring, discovering, and having a blast with friends. Come ready to experiment, be amazed, and maybe even make a little mess along the way!

Mix & Mingle
Program Dates: June 30-August 11, 2026 (No class July 14)
Day: Tuesdays
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
Location: CMAA T-Rec Complex

Description: 
Join us for an exciting adventure around the world with Mix and Mingle! Participants will receive their own passport to get stamped as they explore and experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of different destinations. Get ready for a fun-filled journey full of discovery, connection, and new memories!

Travel itinerary: 
• Jamaica: Let’s learn about this amazing culture including fashion, music, and popular dance stylings. Participants will also learn about Jamaica’s beautiful landscapes and animals. Of course we couldn’t leave out sampling some yummy Jamaican Patties.
• Ireland: Top of the morning to ya! Come learn about musical instruments along with the origin of St. Patrick’s Day. Participants will then turn themselves into leprechauns through an interactive craft.
• Japan: Get ready to eat! We will be sampling some of the best foods it has to offer such as edamame, mochi, and Japanese spring rolls. Participants will also learn about Japan’s currency, language, basic karate moves, and popular entertainment stylings that originate from Japan.
• Australia: Participants will learn the lingo from down under and discover some of Australia’s amazing animals and their habitats, but wait, there’s more! There will also be an awesome presentation on the Great Barrier Reef and the fascinating types of wildlife that keep this wonder of the world flourishing!
• India: Learn about the language, currency, fashion, and music that India has to offer through hands on activities and interactive lessons.
• Dominican Republic: It’s time to cook! Participants will become the chefs while making some simple Dominican Republic recipes such as homemade Maduros and Salami Guisado. We will also be learning about Dominican culture.

Independence Day Bake Off

Description: Come join us for TR's Independence Day Bake Off — a fun, festive celebration where everyone gets to roll up their sleeves and create their own patriotic-themed baked goods! Whether you're decorating cookies, frosting cupcakes, or putting your own creative spin on a classic treat, this is all about enjoyment, self-expression, and the pride that comes from making something special with your own hands. Work at your own pace, independently or alongside staff and peers — however you feel most comfortable. Come hungry, get creative, and let your red, white, and blue shine. Ready. Set. Bake!

“Field Day Frenzy”
Program Date: July 24, 2026
Day: Friday

Location: John Prince Memorial Park (Eric Call Pavilion)

Description: Join us for a fun-filled day outdoors with exciting water games like sponge races and more! It's a great opportunity to get moving, enjoy some friendly competition, and relax in the fresh air. Whether you’re splashing around or cheering on friends, it’s all about having a good time and making the day memorable. Feel free to bring your energy and enthusiasm—everyone is welcome to participate at their own pace!​

Let's Get Cooking!
Goal: To provide adults age 18 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to participate in cooking activities that promote healthy living, independence, and self-care skills.
Benefits: Participants will develop essential life skills, boost confidence in meal preparation, and support their overall wellness by learning to make nutritious choices and prepare healthy meals.

Cooking 102
Program Dates: August 6- 27, 2026
Day: Thursdays 
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
Location: CMAA T-Rec Complex
Fee: $55
Description: Take your cooking skills to new heights with TR Cooking 102! In this fun and engaging program, participants will build on foundational skills to tackle more advanced techniques like dicing, mincing, and timing recipes. Learn to confidently use stovetops and ovens while preparing dishes that will wow your friends and family. This program is your ticket to culinary greatness in 2026!

Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Previous participation in TR Cooking 101 and ability to manage own behavior with minimal staff intervention. Ability to make simple choices. Participants must have a desire to participate in sessions.

Skills Needed: Ability to grasp and maneuver kitchen utensils with minimal assistance and minimal guidance. Understand basic kitchen terminology. Ability to accurately measure wet and dry ingredients with minimal guidance. Able to follow basic 3-step recipe independently. ​
